8 Weird Ways To Boost Your Mood

It's not out of character to not be in a good or happy mood. Life is happening and we get busy in our everyday lives with work, family, school, we tend to get stressed out and our happiness declines, putting us not in a very good mood.


However, there are a few ways to boost your mood that you might find weird. We've all heard eating healthy, eating your fruits and veggies is very beneficial. We've heard exercising is very beneficial to help with your mood as you release your happy hormones when you're exercising. We agree both eating healthy and exercising is great to boost your mood however, there is a missing pillar…..your MINDSET. Not many people are talking about the mindset as this is also a long term way to help with improving your mood. Lets list a few ways to help boost your mood naturally that will include mindset habits.


Gratitude

We tend to focus on things that we don't have in life which can put us in a bad mood because then you start listing all the things that you don't have that you want. Instead of focusing on what you don't have, practice focusing on what you do have. On a piece of paper everyday write 10 things that you are grateful for. Try to do this on a daily basis to get you into the habit of feeling grateful. Gratitude is a very strong emotion and can help you change the perspective of your life. For instance, you're reading this right now therefore you are in good health to be alive this every moment as you are breathing, seeing this on a device getting beneficial information to help improve your life which there are people in the world that don’t have that opportunity. Be grateful for what you have today.


Sex

Yes sex. When we think of exercising to help boost your mood we don't necessarily think about sex as a way of exercise. However you burn a lot of calories by having sex and not only that but it releases your happy hormones (endorphins) which leaves you feeling completely relaxed and in a better mood after sex and not to mention, it can leave you in a positive mindset. Who would have thought! 


Journaling

As humans we have many emotions in our daily lives. Sometimes we tend to keep all those emotions bottled up inside and as more days go by we keep filling up our bottle with more emotions and stuffing it tight in there to the point where one day we snap, either get angry, yell, cry, laugh hysterically….etc. and this is caused by keeping all emotions inside and not dealing and processing these emotions and letting them out. A great way you can do to help boost your mood is to express these emotions whether that is joining a theatrical club and acting out your emotions, or dancing, painting, drawing, photography, or journaling. Journaling is a very popular and common practice to help letting out emotions. If you don't really have a hobby then try journaling and see if you feel better after doing so. 

Smile

Did you know it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile? When you're in the worst mood, just smile. Just by doing that small action changes the way you feel instantly even if it's not the most authentic smile it is still a smile to help boost your mood.

Affirmations

The narrative that we tell ourselves on a daily basis is very important. If we are telling ourselves negative things about ourselves and actually saying these words out loud, we will start believing it and it will just become a loop in our brain that we tell ourselves every single day. On the other hand if we tell ourselves positive things about ourselves we will form our brain into a positive mindset. This is where affirmations come in hand. Examples of affirmation are “I am smart, I am brave, I am happy, I am amazing, I am healthy, I am exquisite,...etc.”  They are whatever words put you in a positive mindset. Come up with a list of 10 affirmations you can tell yourself everyday, think these affirmations to yourself and then say it to yourself out loud.

Dance

This goes along with what we previously were talking about when it comes to bottling up emotions. Dancing can be a great way to release inside all that negativity, emotions, stressful energy and dance it off. Put on some music that you just can’t resist not dancing to. Even the music itself will help boost your mood.

Outdoors

Go outside and get some fresh air! By just breathing in fresh air this boosts your oxygen levels which then boost your serotonin levels that results in boosting your mood. So outside, get out of the house and go look at trees and mother nature and admire the beauty of the green pigmentation and blue skies.
